A Balanced Church

Tonight we had a special night at Church.  Our guest speaker was an old friend of ours who is a medical doctor but also a Pastor.  He is particularly passionate about the filling of the Holy Spirit, and Jesus’ desire to give the Spiritual gifts to the body of Christ.   I asked him to share on the filling of the Holy Spirit and it was such a tremendous blessing as the Lord Jesus (The Chief Shepherd) ministered to us.  Many parts of the Church over emphasize the Holy Spirit and the gifts and are completely imbalanced.  Because of this imbalance, and because so many have been hurt by this, the very natural reaction to it is to avoid it all together.  That’s why so much of the Church never talks about it, or believes in it, and that is unbalanced as well.  It’s amazing, that if we stay as a Biblical Church we’ll stay a balanced Church.  Our guest Pastor said this, “If we only have the Word, we’ll grow dry.  If we only have the Spirit we’ll blow up.  If we have both the Scripture and the Spirit, we’ll grow up.”  My goodness, the Church needs all the help we can get and when the Church is filled with the Holy Ghost and the gifts are operating, we have a healthy, balanced Church.  Tonight, so many people came forward to be filled with the Holy Spirit for the first time.  Then the offer was made for a fresh filling and so many more came forward.  So many also wanted prayer that the Father would give them a gift.  All, I can say is thank you Jesus.  Maranatha!
